'99 Accord LX, 127,000 miles, 2.2L. I acquired this car and want to change the fluid in the 5 speed manual transmission. It would seem that there should only be two plugs to remove: 1) the drain plug located just below where the passenger side axel enters the transaxle case and which is removed with a 3/8' ratchet and 2) a 17mm filler plug located just to the left of the axel.
However, there is another plug on the transaxle case which is also removed with a 3/8' ratchet. This plug is located on a part of the transaxle case that is closer to the wheel and is to the right of the axel as you look at it. It is at about the same height as the 17mm filler plug. What is the purpose of this plug?

Pour 2 quarts of the Honda Premium Transmission Fluid into the funnel and wait for the fluid to drain down into the transmission. Remove the funnel and inert the dipstick back into the tube. Jack the Accord back up and remove the jack stands. Crank the engine and hold the brake pedal down with your foot.
Shift the gear lever through all of the gears a couple of times to get the transmission fluid inside of all areas of the transmission. Allow the engine to run until it reaches operating temperature.
Turn the engine off. Pull the transmission dipstick back out and check the fluid level on the dipstick with the engine off.
The dipstick has hot and cold marks imprinted on it. The fluid level should be on or near the hot mark on the dipstick. Add fluid, a little at a time, until the level is 1/8 inch below the 'Hot' line. Do not overfill. The transmission's capacity is 2.6 quarts. Put the dipstick back into the tube and close the hood.

Pull the catch pan out from under the Civic. Move to the front passenger side of the vehicle and locate the red transmission dipstick on the passenger side rear of the transmission. Pull the dipstick out of the tube and place it on a clean surface. Insert the long neck funnel into the tube and pour in 3.5 quarts of the Honda Genuine Automatic Transmission fluid. Pull the funnel out and reinsert the dipstick.
Crank the engine and let it warm up to operating temperature. Hold the brake down and shift the gear lever through all of the gears and then back to the park position. Keep the engine running and check the transmission fluid level on the dipstick. The fluid level should be on the full mark because the 1993 Honda Civic transmission only holds 3.5 quarts of transmission fluid. Put the dipstick back into the tube and close the hood. Turn the engine off. Jack the Civic back up and remove all of the jack stands.

The leak was severe when driving, soon I stopped driving the car and topped up the transmission fluids and replaced the oil seals of axle on both the sides of Tran, but the leak has not stopped yet and leading to less power transmission when driven.
Please help me out. I dont think there is any problem with Trann itself, as the Tranny was working fine till the axle replacement.

For leakages there are a few possible reasons. 1, Wrong size of oil seal. Improper installation. Scored axle shaft seal seats.
Did you try to get a visual inspection of the leak? Where is it coming from? In between seal and shaft? Is there any damage to the housing of the trans where the seal is seated? Hi KH I ran pillar to post to get my transmission fluid leak fix which lead to erratic or hard shift in Transmission. It is not possible to know if he performed tests on the solenoids and here are the testing procedures. A/T CLUTCH PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE 'A' & 'B' ASSEMBLY 1. A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve 'A' and 'B' assembly is located on transaxle. Disconnect harness connector at A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valves 'A' and 'B'. Using DVOM, measure resistance between solenoid terminals.
Resistance should be about 5 ohms. Replace A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve 'A' and 'B' assembly if resistance is not as specified. Check A/T clutch pressure control solenoid operation. Apply battery voltage to terminal No. 1, and ground terminal No.
A clicking sound should be heard from each solenoid, indicating solenoid operation. Replace A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve 'A' and 'B' assembly if solenoid fails to operate.
